Storm Chaser Ben Holcomb left behind Michigan’s brutal snow and dreary winters for the heart of tornado alley and capital of severe weather research in Norman, Oklahoma. An IT professional by day, Ben pursues nature’s wildest and most violent displays of severe weather. With no formal meteorology training, Ben’s self-taught expertise has fueled over 200,000 miles of chasing and observation of more than 200 tornadoes since he started in 2007. His pursuits have landed him on many major national TV networks.

A lifelong adventurer, Ben has explored all 50 U.S. states, 19 countries, and over 40 National Parks, blending his passion for adventure with his fascination for severe weather. Follow his journey to witness nature’s power through the eyes of a storm chaser.

Each year I travel thousands of miles across the great plains of the United States in search of supercells and tornadoes.

  • April 25, 2026 - Supercell on and just north of the boundary from Stratford to Tupelo (270 Miles)
  • April 24, 2026 - Tracked a supercell from Wynnewood to Durant (307 Miles)
  • April 23, 2026 - Chose the south target and Blue Sky Busted in Elgin while tornadoes raged in Northern Oklahoma (153 Miles)

Ben Holcomb is a Storm Chaser that lives in Norman, Oklahoma, a suburb of Oklahoma City. While Storm Chasing, Ben has seen over 200 tornadoes with the strongest being the Moore, Oklahoma Tornado of May 20, 2013. Hail the size of softballs, an EF-5 tornado and 2 hurricane landfalls highlight Ben’s chasing career. Some of the more significant tornadoes Ben has seen include the Moore, Oklahoma EF5 tornado in 2013, The Mangum Tornado of 2019, The Andover tornado in 2022, the tornado featured in the Tiger King near Wynnewood on May 9, 2016 and Dodge City a couple weeks later on May 24, 2016. Storm Chaser Ben Holcomb’s first tornado was the Earle, Arkansas tornado on May 2nd 2008. Ben has traveled to 20 countries and all 50 states. He enjoys skywatching as well, witnessing eclipses, auroras as well as planespotting.
