The second Geomagnetic storm of the year happened 5 months after the big May 10, 2024 aurora event on October 10, 2024. A very large CME ejected from the sun. It hit the earth during the afternoon on the 10th. I was worried it hit too early, but multiple sub-storms hit, providing beautiful auroras across the northern hemisphere.
As it turned out, I was in West Michigan for a project and was seeing reports of the aurora on the east coast and the UK and other places in Europe and decided to venture out.
